I'm a physician-scientist by training.  I spent the first seven years of my career as a cardiologist, treating patients in a large urban hospital.  Journal Club emerged at the start of the Pandemic with the goal of actively pushing summaries of top journal papers to the Chinese physicians in a convenient format.

As a Chinese physician working in a major hospital, you may be frustrated at not having a time-saving way to read research while working a full schedule.  ​Doctors outside of major healthcare systems may have the desire to be informed of the latest scientific research but finding themselves without neither the access or nor the ability to cross the language barrier.  

I designed Journal Club initially as a 30-minute podcast.  The short format is tailored for the commute.  Since my son's birth and how the Pandemic transformed work, I've switched the format to a more manageable newsletter.  

After four years of my one-woman effort, the contents were kept commercial free. ​I spent full-time reading, sorting, selecting and translating journals with the greatest passion and enjoyment.  ​90% of the 32,000+ subscribers were physicians, researchers, pharma insiders or medical students.  Since the show ended in 2024, these 641 episodes continued to be read and shared on WeChat.  This website serves as a portal to various apps that hosted the episodes.  

It is my sincerest hope that this little project has, in a small way, bridged the chasm of academic research and clinical practice; and that the benefits will translate into better outcome for your patients.
